Cash Only Challenge Update 2

Once again, I am here to give you the Cash Only Challenge Update 2. To share the good, the bad, and the ugly sides of using only cash for an entire month.

As stated in my previous post, week one did not go as smoothly as I had hoped. There were a lot of impromptu shopping trips when I actually felt like cooking dinner. I am proud to say that week two went a lot better. I was actually able to use cash in every situation I made purchases and stuck to my budget.

Overall Update

As an overall update, I can definitely say that week two went far better than week one. Continue reading to see each day outlined.

I withdrew enough money from the bank to cover all of my purchases, and even had some left over to spend freely on myself. Who doesn’t love that?!

Monday: Finished up grocery shopping for the week, including lunch meat and Gatorade for the boyfriends lunches. I also got some cheap nail polish for a dollar! I bought those using change.

Tuesday: I cooked a steak dinner with baked potatoes. We bought the steak was on sale at Kroger for only $6.00 and the potatoes were only  $1.30. Can’t beat that for supper, am I right?

Wednesday: Boyfriend and I spent the day running around getting his license reissued, as well as grabbing a bite to eat. He bought that night, so I didn’t have to spend any of the cash that was in my weekly allowance.

Thursday: My boyfriend was off work today, so I decided to order a pizza for him, myself and my coworker. Paid in cash! Thank goodness today was payday!

Friday: I am hitting the ATM after work today to get some spending money out for this weekend, as well as money for the essentials such as groceries for the following week!

See! That doesn’t seem too hard does it?! I know the more that I do it, the easier it will get!

If you have any questions at all, feel free to drop me a message in my Contact form, which can be found in mymenu above.

Happy Spending & Happy Saving.

I love his idea! I’m going to have to go back to your last post and read about how you started this. It’s so easy to swipe a card and not feel like you’re spending money, so I imagine cash makes you more aware? And that is an awesome deal on the meat and potatoes. Nice work! This is inspiring!

    Jacinta,

I couldn’t agree more! Using cash only has really opened my eyes! It is and has been incredibly hard, but so worthwhile!
Stay tuned for the latest update!

    Thanks,
